7 Businesses Cited For Sale of Alcohol To Underage Person

On Friday, September 19, 2014 an officer with the Sturgeon Bay Police Department conducted an alcohol compliance check of the local businesses and establishments that hold a liquor license. The officer worked with a 20 year old male who held a valid Wisconsin drivers license. Seven businesses/establishments either requested and received identification and still sold alcohol to the young man or sold alcohol to him without requesting and form of identification. The seven businesses/establishments that failed the compliance check were issued an ordinance citation for Selling Alcohol to Underage Person(s), 1st Offense.

On August 27, 2014, a letter signed by Police Chief Arleigh Porter was hand delivered to the businesses and establishments informing them the compliance check was going to take place during the coming months. None of the businesses/establishments that failed the compliance check in 2013 failed this compliance check. The goal of any compliance check is to have 100% compliance.
