Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Foot Chase
On August 30, 2014 at 1:00 AM, Officers were on foot patrol downtown when they observed a 26 year old Sturgeon Bay man inside a bar downtown that wasn't supposed to be drinking. When the 26 year old observed Officers he began to walk away at a brisk pace. As soon as Officers asked the man to stop he took off running. Officers ordered the man to stop numerous times during the foot chase, but he refused to comply. After about three city blocks, Officers apprehended the man. Officers arrested the 26 year old Sturgeon Bay man for Bail jumping, Resisting and Obstructing a Officer, Drug Paraphernalia, and a Probation Hold. The Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Officers Investigate Thefts At Restore
On August 27, 2014 at 12:55 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Restore building for a theft. Upon arrival Officers learned that someone during the night time hours stole three lawn mowers one of which was a Snapper Mulcher. Officers also learned a few days prior someone had stolen a Winston Southern Cay chaise chair from outside the building. The chair was part of a much larger display of items, which was also stolen a few days prior to the chair going missing.
Officers Remind Citizens To Always Lock Car Doors
Within the past few weeks Officers have been dispatched to an increasing number of theft complaints involving vehicles being left unlocked and items being stolen from them. Officers remind citizens to lock their vehicles whenever they are not by them and to remove valuables from the vehicle when not in use.

Police Protective Fund Scam
On August 28, 2014 at 8 AM, Officers were dispatched to the police department reference fraud. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainant had received a phone call from 954-746-9900. The caller claimed to be from Police Protective Fund and requested a donation.
The Police Protective Fund is a scam and the caller might use a legitimate phone number from outside the area to disguise the phone call. If you receive these types of phone calls do not give out any personal information and hang up the phone.
As always the Sturgeon Bay Police Department reminds everyone to never give out sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, or banking information over the phone unless you are positive you know who you are talking to is legitimate. Minnesota Man Arrested After Bar Fight
On August 18, 2014 at 9:25 PM, Officers were dispatched to 7 males fighting inside the Nautical Inn. Upon arrival Officers learned that 7 males had been fighting inside the bar and had been throwing objects including bar stools during the fight. Officers eventually took a 41 year old New Brighton Minnesota man into custody for Disorderly Conduct and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Minnesota man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.
Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Assault
On August 15, 2014 at 4:13 PM, Officers were dispatched to assist the Door County Sheriffs Department with a suicidal man near Gordon Road. Upon arrival Officers took a 42 year old Sturgeon Bay man into protective custody. As Officers investigated the matter Officers learned that the man had threatened a woman with a knife and had caused damage to her residence in the City of Sturgeon Bay. After being medically cleared the Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for the following charges:
- 941.30(2)- Reckless Endanger Safety
- 947.01 - Disorderly Conduct
- 940.19 - Battery
- 943.01 - Criminal Damage to Property
The 42 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested In ICAC Investigation
On August 14, 2014 at 7:20 PM, Officers arrested a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man after a Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) investigation revealed that the man had attempted to meet with a 15 year old boy in Sturgeon Bay for sex. The 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail on Using A Computer to Facilitate A Child Sex Crime and Child Enticement, both of which are felonies.
2 Arrested During Click It Or Ticket Enforcement
On August 13, 2014 at 4:38 PM, Officers working Click It Or Ticket conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for the driver not wearing a seat belt. During the traffic stop Officers found that one of the occupants had given a false name. As Officers spoke with the man further the 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man took off running from Officers. The 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man was apprehended after a brief foot chase and taser deployment.
After securing the 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man, Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver. The driver a 21 year old Sturgeon Bay woman failed field sobriety tests. The Sturgeon Bay woman was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). Ultimately both individuals were incarcerated at the Door County Jail on criminal charges.
Manitowoc Man Arrested In Connection With Purse Thefts
On August 14, 2014 at 4:30 PM, Officers were dispatched to Econo Foods for a theft complaint. Upon arrival Officers learned that a white male wearing black had stolen a purse from a shopping cart. Officers learned after watching surveillance footage the suspect was the same suspect involved in the Festival Foods theft in Brown County.
On August 15, 2014 at 2 PM, Officers found a 44 year old Manitowoc man at Potawatomi State Park fitting the description of the man involved in the thefts. The Manitowoc man was arrested for an active warrant and was transported by Officers to the Door County Jail. Investigators are currently investigating other incidents in the City Sturgeon Bay that might be related.
