Sturgeon Bay Marine Patrol Hits The Water

Just a reminder with the weather getting warmer and warmer the Sturgeon Bay Marine Patrol will be out on the waters of Sturgeon Bay patrolling. Marine Patrol Officers will be out looking for violations of the no wake ordinance (Shown Above On Map In "Yellow") and other safety violations such as intoxicated boaters. Marine Patrol Officers remind everyone to have a safe and fun time while out enjoying the waters of Lake Michigan.

Sturgeon Bay Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography

On June 2, 2015, a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man was charged in Door County Circuit Court with 16 counts of Possession of Child Pornography, Child Sexual Exploitation - Videos, Records, etc, Possess Drug Paraphernalia, and 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substance following a search warrant that was executed on his residence in late January of 2015. The search warrant stemmed from a cyber tip received by the Sturgeon Bay Police Department.

REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER

Pursuant to section 301.46(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the Chief of Police of the City of Sturgeon Bay and the Sheriff of Door County are providing information to the general public relating to persons who are convicted sex offenders.  These people are registered with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry Program.  The following person is a registered sex offender who resides in the City of Sturgeon Bay.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department and the Door county Sheriff’s Department each maintain files concerning registered sex offenders.  These files or portions thereof are available for review by the general public in a manner specified in section 301.46 of the Wisconsin Statutes.

 

Sex offenders have always lived in our community but it was not until Act 440 was enacted which allows law enforcement to share this information with the community.  Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass the registered sex offender will not be tolerated.

Indecent Exposure

On Tuesday, May 26^th, an officer responded to a male passed out at the intersection of North 5^th Avenue and Jefferson Street.   The officer was able to wake the male who was intoxicated and slurring his words.  The male subject exposed himself multiple times while urinating.  In doing so, he was exposing himself to oncoming traffic and pedestrians in the area.  The male subject received a citation for “Urinating in Public”.  The male subject called the next day to apologize for his actions and to anyone who may have seen the exposure.

National Police Week Begins

This week from May 10th through May 16th is National Police week. National Police week was started in 1962 by President John F. Kennedy, which designated this week in May as Peace Officers Memorial Day.

During this week tens of thousands of Law Enforcement Officers from across the nation will converge on Washington DC for remembrance and honor of their fallen comrades that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. This year there will be 273 fallen officers added to the nearly 20,000 other names permanently etched into the memorial’s walls.

So if you get a chance this week or in the future please go ahead and Thank an Officer for the job that he or she is doing…it just could make that Officers day or even his or her week!

Sturgeon Bay Police Honor Guard Attends Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial

This past weekend members of the Sturgeon Bay Police Departments Honor Guard attended the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial held in Madison. The Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorials mission is to remember and honor Wisconsin law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty. This year Polk County Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Seversen will be officially added to the memorial. With the inclusion of Deputy Seversen 266 law enforcement officers are listed on the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Memorial.
