[Update] On Standoff At 337 N. Duluth Avenue

As most of you already know the Sturgeon Bay Police Department was dispatched to 337 N. Duluth Avenue for a welfare check on Monday afternoon around 4:00 PM after Officers were asked to check on a 40 year old Sturgeon Bay male named Christopher McNulty.  Prior to Officers being dispatched to the Duluth residence, McNulty had brandished a handgun and had told the homeowner to leave. Due to prior threats of harming himself Officers were asked to investigate.

Upon arrival Officers attempted to make contact with McNulty. As Officers did so McNulty immediately began to fire at Officers using a handgun. McNulty continued to shoot at Officers as they retreated to cover.  Officers on scene surrounded the location and asked for further assistance by other Officers. The Sturgeon Bay Police Departments Special Operations Team, Door County Sheriffs Department SWAT Team, Kewaunee County Sheriffs Department SWAT Team responded to the scene.  Brown County Sheriffs Department and Green Bay Police Department also assisted with the use of Green Bay PD's Bear Cat an armored vehicle and the Brown County Sheriffs Department Bomb Squads robot.

Around 11:30 PM, after multiple attempts to make contact with McNulty SWAT team members used the Bearcat to break down the front door of the residence.  Soon after the front door was broken down McNulty emerged from the living room.  McNulty continued to not comply with Officers orders and was subsequently tased by SWAT team members and was taken into custody.

McNulty is currently being held in the Door County Jail on a $25,000 cash bond. The district attorney is still reviewing further charges. Currently McNulty faces multiple felony charges.
