Bicyclist Injured In Crash, Officers Remind Bicyclists To Follow Rules Of The Road!
On Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:55 PM, Officers driving on the west side of Sturgeon Bay were travelling towards the Michigan Street Bridge on Madison Avenue when the squad car was struck by a bicyclist who failed to stop for the red flashing light on Maple Street at Madison Avenue. The bicyclist was injured and was transported to the Door County Medical Center. As a result of the crash the Officer sustained a minor laceration when the driver side window of the squad was shattered. Officers remind bicyclists to follow the rules of the roadway at all times. Bicyclists should wear reflective clothing and use lighting on their bikes when biking at dusk or at night. If you are observed by Officers you could be cited for not following the rules of the roadway or having proper lighting on bicycles at night.
