April Designated As Sexual Assault Awareness Month

- Every 2 minutes, someone in the United States is sexually assaulted.
- Approximately 54% of sexual assaults are not reported to the police.
- Approximately 97% of rapists will never spend a day in jail.

Recently Officer Krah from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department did a series of presentations at Green Bay area schools. Officer Krahs presentation was about her own personal story involving sexual assault and how she overcame it. A link to her story is here Officer Krah SBPD-Sexual Assault Survivor Story.

Officer Krah reminds us that the month of April has been designated Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in the United States. The goal of SAAM is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and to educate communities and individuals on how to prevent it. Contact your local Sexual Assault Center or police department to report abuse or for information on how to prevent it. IT’S TIME TO TALK ABOUT IT! Help spread the word!
