On May 25, 2014 at 5:52 PM, Officers assisted Sturgeon Bay Fire Department (SBFD) with a brush fire behind a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay. As SBFD was putting out the fire Officers observed materials used to light the fire nearby still intact. Officers began to search the surrounding area for anyone leaving the scene of the fire and found out from nearby residents that a juvenile had been running from the area just prior to the fire. Officers found the juvenile and arrested him for starting the fire. The juvenile was transported to the Police Department where Door County Human Services provided assistance to the juvenile.
