On Thursday afternoon, January 26, 2012, the Sturgeon Bay Police Department arrested 28 year old Andrea Esther from Sturgeon Bay in connection with the death of 49 year old Demetrias Moya. Esther has been charged with First Degree Reckless Homicide after she told investigators that she gave Moya a controlled substance, OXYMORPHONE , that he ingested and later died as a result of that use. A toxicology report revealed that Moya had a high level of OXYMORPHONE in his system at time of death.
The three month long investigation began on October 15, 2011, when officers of the Sturgeon Bay Police Department were dispatched to Moya’s apartment for a welfare check after he failed to show up for work. Police officers entered Moya’s apartment and found Moya dead.
