Officers Find Missing Child After Brief Search!

On September 1, 2012 at 3:27 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1600 block of Louisiana Place for a missing 6 year old child. Upon arrival Officers were advised by the mother that her 6 year old daughter was missing from the residence. The mother provided a description of her daughter to Officers and stated she had checked the entire residence, but couldn't locate the child.

Officers began to check the neighborhood while other Officers began to go door to door looking for the missing child. After about 20 minutes, Officers made contact with a neighbor who advised the child had walked over to his residence and the missing girl was in his garage. The child was brought back to the mothers residence where she was handed over to her mother.

Officers remind parents to talk with their children about the following safety tips:
  1. Always check first with a parent, guardian, or trusted adult before going anywhere, accepting anything, or getting into a car with anyone.
  2. Do not go out alone. Always take a friend with when going places or playing outside.
  3. Say no if someone tries to touch you, or treats you in a way that makes you feel sad, scared, or confused. Get out of the situation as quickly as possible.
  4. Tell a parent, guardian, or trusted adult if you feel sad, scared, or confused.
  5. There will always be someone to help you, and you have the right to be safe.
