Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Fight In Park


On September 19, 2013 at 8:21 PM, Officers were dispatched to a large fight in Garland Park. Upon arrival Officers observed two subjects walking towards the west in the park. As Officers approached one of the men involved in the fight a 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man began to yell obscenities at a larger group nearby.

As Officers went to arrest the Sturgeon Bay man he began to resist Officers attempts to do so and had to be tased by Officers.  Officers were able to place handcuffs on the 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man and escorted him to a nearby squad car. As Officers escorted the man to the nearby squad car the Sturgeon Bay man continued to resist Officers by kicking at them. Due to the Sturgeon Bay mans actions Officers sustained minor injuries. Officers transported the man to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated on the following charges Disorderly Conduct, Battery, Criminal Damage To Property, Felony Resisting An Officer, and Bail-jumping.

Reminder: Sturgeon Bay Halloween Public Safety Bash, Oct 31 2013!






Once again this year we will be handing out Halloween candy at City Hall on Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 4PM to 7PM.   

Sturgeon Bay Police and Fire Departments as well as Door County EMS will be on scene handing out candy and all sorts of other goodies to trick or treaters in Market Square near City Hall. There will also be a Squad Car, Ambulance, and Fire Truck for the kids to go through as well.  

So before you set out to go trick or treating make sure to stop by Market Square to get some candy and go through the Police and Fire vehicles.  We hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween!

Officers Investigate Burglary


On September 8, 2013 at 9:45 AM, Officers were dispatched to a business in the 800 block of Douglas Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found someone had broken into the locked business overnight on September 7, 2013.

Officers are asking the public for help in locating anyone who might have saw someone acting suspicious in the area during the night time hours of September 7, 2013. Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Drugs


On September 7, 2013 at 6:40 AM, Officers found a man sleeping in the alleyway behind the Red Room Bar.  Officers made contact with the 25 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Officers determined the man had violated his Probation due to drinking alcohol. As Officers went to arrest the Sturgeon Bay man they found Pep Spice and a smoking device used to smoke the Pep Spice. Officers arrested the 25 year old Sturgeon Bay man on a Probation Hold, Possession of a Hallucinogenic Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Kewaunee Man Arrested For Lewd Acts


On September 17, 2013 at 1:02 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Cherry Point Mall for a male masturbating in the mall. Upon arrival Officers made contact with a 28 year old Kewaunee man. The Kewaunee man denied committing the acts, but Officers observed the mans pants to be unzipped before arresting him for Lewd and Lascivious Conduct, Disorderly Conduct and a Probation Hold.  The 28 year old Kewaunee man is incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Officers Investigate Vandalism To Business


On September 3, 2013 at 7:19 AM, Officers were dispatched to the BP Travel Center for Vandalism. Upon arrival Officers found that someone had went onto the roof of the building and damaged the buildings coolers. As a result thousands of dollars worth of damage occurred. Officers are reviewing evidence obtained from the business to identify the individuals responsible for this act.

Officers are asking the public for help in locating anyone who might have saw someone near the business acting suspicious during the night time hours of August 31, 2013. Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Assault


On September 3, 2013 at 2:27 AM, Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on 7th Avenue for a fight. Upon arrival Officers found a male attempting to leave the complex. Officers identified the male and continued into the apartment complex where they could hear yelling and screaming. Officers made contact with the complainant who states she had been beaten and strangled. The complainant identified the person as the individual Officers had just made contact with. Additional Officers responding to the location found the 26 year old Sturgeon Bay man near Sunset Park in a vehicle and arrested him on the following charges Battery, Disorderly Conduct, and Felony Strangulation. The 26 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Sister Bay Man Arrested For Thefts


On September 2, 2013 at 11:29 AM, Officers were dispatched to the BP Travel Center for a gas drive off. As Officers were en-route dispatch informed them that the driver involved in this gas drive off had done this three other times and possible more to other gas stations. Officers arrived to find gas station attendants talking with the man. Officers interviewed the 46 year old Sister Bay man and found that he had done this type of theft multiple times. Officers arrested the Sister Bay man and booked him into the Door County Jail on 4 counts of misdemeanor Theft.

Officers Investigate Criminal Damage To West Side Businesses


On August 30 , 2013 at 11:15 AM, Officers were dispatched to the Cherryland Shell for a broken window. Upon arrival Officers found a broken window on the car wash, which appeared to have been shot out with a BB gun.

On August 30, 2013 at 11:35 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Cherry Land Motel for a fire alarm. Upon arrival Officers found that two juvenile males had been running through the motel pulling the fire alarms. As Officers investigated further they found that the juveniles had also intentionally plugged drains, which caused extensive water damage. The exact amount of damage done is not known due to the extent of it. The juveniles were last seen running to the south of the Cherry Land Motel.

Investigators continue to conduct follow-up reference the criminal damage and are asking the public for help. Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Brandishing Knife


On August 30, 2013 at 3:05 AM, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a east side residence involving a knife. As Officers were en-route dispatch informed Officers that the man was threatening the complainant with a knife. Upon arrival Officers encountered the man who had hid the knife prior to Officers arrival. Officers made contact with the male and took him into custody after he resisted Officers attempts to arrest him. Officers arrested the 58 year old Sturgeon Bay man  and incarcerated him at the Door County Jail on charges of Disorderly Conduct, Reckless Endangering Safety, and  Resisting and Obstructing An Officer.

Foot Patrol Leads To 2 Cited For Underage Drinking


On August 28, 2013 at 9:31 PM, Officers were conducting foot patrol of the 600 block of North 12th Avenue when they overheard what sounded like glass shattering. Officers began to investigate further and found numerous juveniles sitting on nearby playground equipment. Officers made contact with them and determined that some of them had been drinking alcohol. Officers cited two of the juveniles for underage drinking. Officers also recovered bottles of liquor hidden nearby. The remaining juveniles were instructed to go home.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Disturbance


On August 28, 2013 at 4 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay. Upon arrival Officers found the complainant injured. Officers found that a 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man had assaulted the complainant and had fled the residence. Additional Officers who were responding to the call found the man nearby and attempted to make contact with him. As Officers went to contact the 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man he attempted to punch the Officer. Officers escorted the man to the ground and with the assistance from additional Officers arrested the Sturgeon Bay man who continued to resist Officers. The 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail on Domestic Disorderly Conduct, Domestic Battery, Felony Strangulation, Felony Bail-jumping, and Resisting and Obstructing An Officer.

2 Arrested In Burglary To Residence


On August 27, 2013 at 5:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to an east side residence in Sturgeon Bay for a Burglary. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainants door had been kicked in and her large LCD television stolen. A few days later Officers recovered the stolen television at a residence in the City of Kewaunee. After investigating multiple individuals, Officers arrested two men in connection with the Burglary a 21 year old Brussels man and a 27 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Both men were booked into the Door County Jail on Burglary and Criminal Damage to Property charges.

Officers Assist Sturgeon Bay Fire With Water Rescue


On August 24, 2013 at 7:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Sturgeon Bay ship canal to assist with a boat that was on fire. The Sturgeon Bay Fire Department boarded the vessel and put out the electrical fire. The Sturgeon Bay Police/Fire Boat  towed the vessel to shore where the United States Coast Guard and Officers conducted an inspection of it. No one was injured in the incident.

Algoma Woman Arrested For Assault


On August 23, 2013 at 8:09 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Nightengale Motel for a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers found a 26 year old Algoma woman had assaulted a 27 year old Kimberly man. During the assault a toilet seat was broken by the female.  Officers found that the female had fled prior to Officers arriving on scene.

At 3 AM, Officers located the 26 year old Algoma woman and recovered Marijuana, Drug Paraphernalia, numerous prescription pills, and a handgun.  The 26 year old Algoma woman was arrested on the following charges: Disorderly Conduct, Battery, Criminal Damage To Property, Possession of THC, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Possession of Schedule II Narcotic. The Algoma woman was incarcerated at the Door County Jail. The handgun recovered by Officers was later returned to its owner.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Bailjumping


On August 22, 2013 at 5:49 PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of 18th and Florida Avenue for a man riding a bicycle all over the roadway. Officers made contact with the man and determined he was intoxicated. Officers found that the 53 year old Sturgeon Bay man had violated his bond conditions of absolute sobriety. Officers arrested the 53 year old for Bail-jumping and transported him to the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested In Accident For OWI


On August 21, 2013 at 7:18 PM, Officers were dispatched to an accident with injuries on 14th Avenue at Bluebird Street. Upon arrival Officers found a vehicle against a utility pole. Officers found that the driver a 55 year old Sturgeon Bay woman had minor injuries. Officers determined the driver was impaired by drugs. Officers confiscated Marijuana and numerous prescription pills from the car. The 55 year old Sturgeon Bay woman was medically cleared and incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Congratulations Officer Neil Dorner


The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is proud to announce Officer Neil Dorner as one of its newest Officers. Officer Dorner was selected from an applicant pool of over 100 candidates. Officer Dorner will begin a rigorous field training program that will take about 8 to 16 weeks to complete. Prior to becoming a Police Officer with the City of Sturgeon Bay, Officer Dorner worked as an Officer for the Algoma Police Department for the last 10 years.

Officers Investigate Assault Involving Weapons


On August 30, 2013 at 1:00 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay for an assault. Upon arrival Officers found that approximately 10 to 15 individuals some wearing masks and armed with weapons assaulted two males at a nearby residence. Both males sustained injuries and were treated at Door County Medical Center. Officers have arrested multiple individuals in connection with this incident. Those arrested are incarcerated at the Door County Jail. Further arrests are imminent as Officers continue to investigate this incident. At this time there is no danger to the community.
