Happy New Year's

Before going out, program a taxi companies phone number in your phone for a ride home if you don't have a designated driver.  The Sturgeon Bay Police Officers "donut" want to end up being your designated driver.  We hope for a safe ending to 2017 and beginning of 2018!

Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled over initiative from December 15 through January 1.

We encourage everyone to drink responsibly and if you choose to drink, use a designated driver or a cab.  During this holiday season, don't risk being arrested for OWI and don't risk endangering yourself and others on the road.  A safe holiday is a merry holiday!

The Wisconsin DOT offers a Drive Sober mobile app that includes a blood alcohol estimator, designated driver selector, and find-a-ride feature that uses a smart phone's GPS to locate alternative transportation.

Chop N Shop With A Cop 2017

A few of the Sturgeon Bay Police Officers and the Sturgeon Bay Liaison Officer partnered up with Law Enforcement Officers from the Door County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin DNR to spend the day with thirty area children at the 15th Annual Chop “N” Shop with a Cop program.

The day was spent picking out the perfect Christmas tree at Door County Tree Farm, Shopping at Target for the perfect gifts, visits with Santa and finished up the day with a gift wrapping pizza party sponsored by Sonny’s Pizza.

Thank you to Lt. Tammy Sternard for organizing the event and to all the volunteers for giving these children a special Christmas.

And "Snow" It Begins

The forecast is "predicting" snow starting this evening which means drivers will have to learn how to drive again on those slick roads.  Reminder to give yourself extra time to get to your destination and don't follow to close to the vehicle in front of you in case you are unable to stop.  Although it may be fun, the Sturgeon Bay Police Department doesn't encourage decorating the roadways or parking lots with "donuts" or "cheerios".   Be safe and have a great weekend!

Unwanted Holiday Decoration

After hearing such a clatter a family dashed to the window to not find Santa and his sleigh, but instead a minivan decorating their house.  No one was injured and the juvenile driver may be received a lump of coal for Christmas.

Doesn’t matter how old you are, please remember to drive your “sleigh” with a valid driver’s license.  The Sturgeon Bay Police Department reminds everyone to be safe this holiday season.
