ICAC Investigation Leads To Sturgeon Bay Man's Arrest


On March 22, 2014 at 7:00 PM, Officers from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department working under the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force arrested a 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man for soliciting a 15 year old female for sex.  The 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail on felony Use of a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime & Felony Child Enticement-Sexual Contact.

3 Arrested This Weekend For OWI


This weekend Officers arrested three for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI):

The first arrest occurred on April 19, 2014 at 2:42 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for driving without its headlights on. Officers made contact with the 31 year old driver and found that she had been drinking. Officers administered field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers provided a preliminary breath test, which indicated a .19 amount. Officers arrested the 31 year old Brussels woman for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and incarcerated her at the Door County Jail.

The second arrest occurred on April 20, 2014 at 2:21 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for driving in the other lane of traffic. Officers made contact with the 56 year old Appleton woman who was driving the vehicle. While talking with the driver Officers found that the woman had been drinking. Officers administered field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers provided a preliminary breath test, which indicated a .21 amount. The 56 year old Appleton woman was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 4th offense and Felony Bail jumping. The Appleton woman was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

The third arrest of the weekend occurred on April 20, 2014 at 4:00 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Shiloh Road. Officers made contact with the 19 year old driver and found that he had been drinking. Officers administered field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers provided a preliminary breath test, which indicated a .21 amount. Officers arrested the 19 year old driver for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and cited him with numerous other violations. Officers transported the 19 year old Driver to the Door County Jail.

The app has 24 possible features and options.  Some of the features include department contacts, push notifications, feedback & tips forms, as well as options to retrieve information from FEMA, the National Weather Service, and the National Terror Advisory System.  Other uses include links for wanted persons, videos, and blog posts.

The phone application or “app” can be downloaded free by searching for My Police Department or MyPD in the iPhone or Android marketplace. You can also click on the images above to download the app directly for your Android or iPhone device.  The police app is available to the public free of charge and is also free of any advertisements.  Once downloaded you simply navigate to Wisconsin and select theSturgeon Bay Police Department.

“This police app is a great addition to our agency” said Public Information Officer Chad Mielke  “We can now push out notifications and alerts and the public has a variety of ways to contacts us. The goal of our MyPD app is to give the public a one stop app option with plenty of features and to open the lines of communication.”

Users can choose not only the Sturgeon Bay Police app, but they also have the option to view other police departments on MyPD by choosing a different city or state. The app defaults to the last agency viewed upon opening, this makes it easy to always open just to the Sturgeon Bay Police Department. 

The department home screen contains a number of features with more located in the bottom menu which activates upon touch or swipe.

“Our app’s submit a tip or questions and feedback features allows a user to choose a topic from the forms drop down menu that best suits them and that message will then be routed to the correct Officer.” Said Officer Mielke.   “Forms can be sent anonymously to the department, but we encourage an email address or phone number if you would like a response. Users also have the availability to upload photos with the app tip and feedback forms. “

As is the case with email, tips, and social media, our app is not for any type of emergency situation. The Sturgeon Bay Police app is for routine questions and information sharing. 9-1-1 is always the method for emergency situations or response.

Traffic Stop Leads To Sturgeon Bay Man's Arrest


On April 16, 2014 at 1:52 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on Florida Street. Upon making contact with the driver Officers identified him as a 34 year old Sturgeon Bay man who had a suspended drivers license and wasn't supposed to be driving. While Officers spoke with the Sturgeon Bay man Officers detected a strong odor of Marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and confiscated Marijuana. Officers arrested the driver for Bail jumping, Probation Hold, and cited the Sturgeon Bay man with ordinance possession of Marijuana and Operating While Suspended. The 34 year old driver is incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested


On April 13, 2014 at 1:22 AM, Officers were dispatched to the AmericInn to conduct a welfare check on a woman who was bumping into walls while she walked in the hotel. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the 30 year old Sturgeon Bay woman who was intoxicated. The Sturgeon Bay woman didn't know why she was in the hotel. Officers determined that the Sturgeon Bay woman was on probation and wasn't allowed to drink. Officers administered a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) to the woman and received a .32 result. Officers arrested the Sturgeon Bay woman for a probation hold and incarcerated her at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested In Disturbance


On April 6, 2014 at 2 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of 12th Avenue for an intoxicated woman acting disorderly. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the woman who had been ransacking the inside of the house. After attempting to obtain clothes for the disorderly woman who was naked upon Officers arrival, she began to fight with Officers. Officers eventually were able to escort the woman to the squad car. The 33 year old Sturgeon Bay woman was arrested and incarcerated at the Door County Jail on misdemeanor charges of Disorderly Conduct and Resisting An Officer.

2 Men Cited In Fight Downtown


On April 5, 2014 at 1:30 AM, Officers on patrol observed two men fighting on the ground in the 200 block of Third Avenue. Officers made contact with the men and quickly deescalated the situation. Officers found that the fight began after one of the men had told the other to leave the nearby bar because he was too intoxicated. Officers cited both men a 36 year old Grant man and a 28 year old Berlin man for ordinance Disorderly Conduct.

Sturgeon Bay Man Injured In Accident


On April 2, 2014 at 3:48 PM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of Iowa and Third Avenue for a accident causing injuries. Upon arrival Officers found that a truck had struck a moped. The operator of the moped was injured. Officers learned that the truck had pulled out in front of the moped while it was travelling on Third Avenue. The driver of the truck was cited for inattentive driving. The moped driver was transported to Door County Medical Center.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Disturbance


On March 30, 2014 at 6:04 PM, Officers were dispatched to Cherry Lanes for a disturbance. Upon arrival Officers found that a female had created a disturbance inside the bar area and now refused to leave. Officers escorted the female from the bar and sent her on her way home. While investigating the matter Officers found that the females friend a 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man had been drinking with her. Officers located the Sturgeon Bay man and verified that he was intoxicated. Officers learned that the Sturgeon Bay man had absolute sobriety bond conditions. Officers arrested the Sturgeon Bay man and incarcerated him at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Bailjumping


On March 30, 2014 at 2:36 AM, Officers made contact with a male walking downtown with a alcoholic beverage in his hand. Officers identified the man as a 33 year old Sturgeon Bay man.  While talking with the man Officers found that the 33 year old had bond conditions to maintain absolute sobriety. Officers arrested the Sturgeon Bay man for Bail jumping and cited him for having a open intoxicant. The Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.
