On Saturday, April 21, 2012 at 4:30 AM, Officers on patrol overheard the Door County Sheriffs Department being dispatched to an area near the city for a motorist who was travelling at a high rate of speed. Officers positioned themselves in the area when they observed the vehicle coming into the city limits at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the vehicle failed to stop. At one point the suspect vehicle nearly struck a squad car. Officers continued to pursue the vehicle as it drove through ditches destroying multiple mailboxes and going through lawns of residences. The driver of the vehicle a 46 year old Sturgeon Bay man was stopped in his driveway and arrested for Felony Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated 3rd Offense, Hit and Run, and multiple other traffic related offenses. The Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.
