Pursuant to section 301.46(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes the Sheriff of Door County and the Chief of Police of the City of Sturgeon Bay are providing information to the general public relating to persons who are convicted sex offenders. These people are registered with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry Program. Community Notification of Registered sex offender is not intended to punish. Many registrants have been successfully reintegrated into the communities where they live and work. No person may engage in harassment of the registrants

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Bail Jumping


On August 29, 2012 at 7:45 AM, Officers on patrol noticed a man slumped over a bench downtown who appeared to be sleeping. Officers stopped and made contact with the 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Officers identified the man from prior Police contacts and determined the Sturgeon Bay man was on bond condition for prior incidents Disorderly Conduct and Obstructing Officers and wasn't supposed to be consuming any alcohol. The 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for Bail jumping.

Officers Investigate Theft In Walmart Parking Lot


On August 28, 2012 at 3:30 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department for a theft that had occurred in the Walmart parking lot. Upon arriving at the station the complainant states she had left her vehicle a blue 2006 Kia Optima parked in the Walmart parking lot unlocked for about 2 days. When the complainant went to pick the vehicle up she found that the vehicle had been gone through and the following items stolen from it:


1. One Tennessee license plate with identification number 961-YLH.
2. One Tennessee Title of ownership.
3. One Tennessee proof of vehicle registration.

Man & Women From Florida Charged With Felony Theft


On August 24, 2012 at 8 AM, Officers were dispatched to the White Birch Inn for a Theft complaint. While at the Inn the complainant stated a 25 year old male and a 47 year old female both from Jacksonville, Florida had been staying at the Inn while the male worked at Bay ship. While living at the Inn the couple stole over $5000.00 worth of items including money from the Inn. Both the male and female were referred to the Door County District Attorneys Office for Felony Theft charges.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Vehicle Theft


On August 21, 2012 at 6:09 PM, Door County Sheriffs Deputies were dispatched to a residence in the county for a Vehicle Theft. Sturgeon Bay Officers overhearing the description of the stolen vehicle began to look for the vehicle in the City of Sturgeon Bay. While patrolling Officers found the vehicle in Sunset Park. Officers took the driver a 18 year old Sturgeon Bay man into custody for Auto Theft and Bail jumping. Officers transported the male to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated.

Luxemburg Man Injured In Motorcycle Accident


On August 22, 2012 at 2:49 PM, Officers were dispatched to the intersection of 1st Avenue and Michigan Street for an accident with injuries. Upon arrival Officers found a motorcyclist who was lying on the ground with multiple injuries. The other vehicle involved was damaged, but the occupants weren't injured.  Officers determined that the vehicle had pulled out into the intersection directly in front of the motorcyclist causing the motorcyclist to collide into the passenger side of the vehicle.  The driver of the vehicle a 97 year old man from Sister Bay was cited and released. The motorcyclist a 45 year old Luxemburg man was transported by Ambulance to Door County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Lodi Man Arrested For Felony OWI


On August 19, 2012 at 11:14 PM, Officers were dispatched to Claybanks Rd and the Highway for a man in the middle of the street looking at something. The complainant stated to dispatch the man appeared to be confused and intoxicated.  Officers caught up to the vehicle and as they attempted a traffic stop on the vehicle it crossed over into the other lane of travel. The vehicle finally stopped and Officers made contact with the driver.  Upon making contact Officers detected an odor of alcohol coming from the male driver. Officers conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers arrested the 58 year old Lodi man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 4th Offense. The driver was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Oconto Falls Man Arrested After Climbing Onto Roof Of Local Church


On August 18, 2012 at 4:49 AM, Officers were dispatched to the Prince of Peace Church for a suspicious person who had been on the roof of the church. Upon arrival Officers were informed by the complainant that he had been sleeping and had been awoken by someone walking across the churches roof. The complainant who provides security for the church turned off the lights inside the church so he could see outside. As the lights were turned off the complainant observed a male begin to run towards Michigan Street.

Other Officers in the area found the male who had been running  and made contact with him. While making contact with the 17 year old male from Oconto Falls, Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from him.  Officers also found that the Oconto Falls man was on Felony bond and wasn't supposed to be drinking or using any drugs.  Officers arrested the man for violating his bond conditions and upon doing so recovered Drug Paraphernalia from inside his pants he was wearing. Officers transported the Oconto Falls man to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated.

Officers Arrest 2 For OWI Saturday Night


The first OWI during Saturday night occurred at 12:24 AM, when an Officer working downtown observed a vehicle blow its horn continuously even as it passed the Officers squad car. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and detected that the driver had been consuming alcohol. Officers conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers arrested the 20 year old New Berlin man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and issued Underage Drinking Citations to the 3 passengers inside the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated.

The second OWI of the night occurred at 2:27 AM, Officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle near Utah Street and 18th Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found a vehicle running with a male slumped over the steering wheel. As the Officer approached the vehicle he observed vomit on the ground outside of it and the vehicle was still in drive. The Officer put the vehicle in park and awoke the driver who stated he had fallen asleep after just getting off of work. Officers detected a strong odor of alcohol coming from the driver and conducted field sobriety tests, which the driver failed. Officers arrested the 41 year old Sturgeon Bay man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and transported him to the Door County Jail.

Officers Arrest Illinois Man For OWI Drug Related!



On August 15, 2012 at 8 AM, Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding on the highway. Upon making contact with the driver the Officer detected an odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. Field sobriety tests were conducted, which the driver failed. The driver a 17 year old man from Illinois was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and issued citations for Possession of Marijuana, Minor Transporting Alcohol, Speeding, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The Illinois man was transported to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Drug Possession


On August 13, 2012 at 12:55 AM, Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for a defective headlamp. Upon making contact with the driver the Officer detected an odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle. Officers also noticed the driver attempting to grab or place something underneath the front seat as the Officer was back in his squad. Officers removed the 36 year old Sturgeon Bay man and while doing so the driver told Police to be delicate when handling the small engine block that was on the passenger side of the vehicle. Officers checked the engine block and found Marijuana and Drug Paraphernalia within it. The 36 year old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for Possession of THC and Possession of Paraphernalia and transported to the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Police & Door County Sheriff Release July Seatbelt Enforcement Results

Release July’s HVE Results

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department and the Door County Sheriff’s Department have completed their third month of participation in their 2012 Seatbelt High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) Deployment, which is funded through a grant from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety.  Door County is one of four counties in the state and the only one in Northeast Wisconsin to receive this pilot grant. 

In July, there were six deployments with the following results:

·         246 traffic stops were made during the deployments that covered 24 hours. 

·         168 traffic citations were issued:         113      Seatbelt 
                                                                                    28        Speeding
                                                                                    2          OAR (operate after revocation) and                                                                                                  OWS (operate while suspended)
                                                                                    3          Vehicle registration
            21        Miscellaneous violations
                        (i.e.: stop sign / no insurance)

·         132 traffic warnings were issued:       91        Speeding
                                                                                    6          Vehicle registration
                                                                                    7          Vehicle equipment
            28        Miscellaneous violations

Officers Arrest Three For Fighting Downtown!


On August 4, 2012 at 11:59 PM, Officers were dispatched to a fight in the parking lot of the Stone Harbor Resort. Upon arrival Officers made contact with two injured males who were part of a wedding party. Prior to Officers arrival the suspects had fled the location in a large black truck. Officers determined through the course of investigating the matter that an incident had occurred inside Stone Harbor Resort. As a result of that incident one of the males exited the building to confront the males, but confronted the wrong vehicle, which was outside in the parking lot. A fight ensued between the men in the truck and two males from the wedding party. The two males from the wedding suffered lacerations to their heads.  One of the males transported himself to Door County Medical Center to receive treatment.

A few hours later Officers found a vehicle similar to what witnesses had reported to Officers nearby where the incident took place. Officers made contact with two male suspects from Coleman who were arrested for Disorderly Conduct and Felony Substantial Battery. A third man from the wedding party was referred to the Door County District Attorneys Office for Disorderly Conduct  for his actions, which lead up to the altercation.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Resisting Officers



On August 4, 2012 at 8:55 PM, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of 8th Avenue for a intoxicated male attempting to enter a home. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the suspect who was a 53 year old Sturgeon Bay man and determined he had been drinking, which was a violation of his Probation. While accessing the mans medical status the male became very uncooperative and stated to Officers he intended to resist Officers attempts to restrain him and put him in the squad car. Officers arrested the man and carried the man to the squad car.  The 53 year old Sturgeon Bay man was transported to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated on a Probation Hold and issued citations for Disorderly Conduct, Possession of THC, and Resisting and Obstructing An Officer.

Officers Investigate Burglary To Residence


On August 1, 2012 at 9 AM, Officers were dispatched to a Burglary in the 900 block of 7th Avenue. Upon arrival Officers met with the complainant who states someone between the hours of 4:30 PM and 6:30 PM went into his residence and stole prescription medication and money. Officers found that the complainant had forgotten to lock his door. Green Bay Man Cited For Making Threats!


On July 31, 2012 at 7:40 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on 4th Avenue for a threats complaint. Upon arrival Officers met with the complainant who stated a male who had threatened him while he worked at Walmart in the past few weeks had threatened him again at his residence. The complainant states around 6:30 PM he returned home and while outside the same male confronted him in the front yard of his residence.  The complainant states the suspect ended his verbal tirade by telling him he was going to get his gun to shoot the complainant. Officers cited the 39 year old man from Green Bay with Disorderly Conduct.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Felony Bail Jumping


On July 29, 2012 at 12:41 AM, Officers on patrol downtown observed a male known by Officers to have an active warrant. Officers made contact with the male in the alleyway behind Cherry Lanes. While placing the Sturgeon Bay man in custody for the active warrant, Officers found drug paraphernalia in the pants of the 36 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Upon finding the drug paraphernalia the man stated his girlfriend had placed it in his pockets due to observing Officers drive past. Officers arrested the 36 year old Sturgeon Bay man for the active warrant, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Felony Bail jumping. He was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

37 Yr Old Cited For Disorderly Conduct After Disturbance


On Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 7 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Q-Mart for a intoxicated male who was lying in the parking lot motionless.  Upon arrival Officers recognized the male from prior Police contacts as a 37 Yr Old Sturgeon Bay man. Officers determined the male had soiled himself and was incapacitated by alcohol. Officers placed the Sturgeon Bay man in protective custody. While doing so the 37 year old began to resist Officers attempts to do so. While he did this he yelled numerous expletives at Officers. Officers transported the man to the Door County Medical Center to receive medical help. Officers cited the Sturgeon Bay man with Disorderly Conduct due to the disturbance he created at Q-Mart.

17 Yr Old Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested In Walmart Thefts


On August 6, 2012, Officers arrested a 17 year old Sturgeon Bay man for Theft in connection with thefts from Walmart. Earlier last week Officers posted pictures of the suspect and received numerous tips via phone and by the Police Departments Confidential Web Tip Form http://www.sturgeonbaypolice.com/webtip.html.


Based off those tips Officers arrested the 17 year old male from Sturgeon Bay. Officers would like to thank everyone who contacted them in regards to this matter. Truly without the public's help we wouldn't have been able to identify and arrest the person responsible for the thefts from Walmart.

Wild Lake Man Arrested For OWI 3rd Offense


On July 28, 2012 at 8:47 PM, Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling on Elm Street in the City of Sturgeon Bay. Upon making contact with the driver Officers determined the driver had been drinking alcohol  Officers conducted field sobriety tests, which the 48 year old driver failed. Officers arrested the driver for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 3rd Offense. Officers transported the 48 year old Wild Lake man to the Door County Jail where he was jailed on the OWI 3rd Offense.

Officers Investigate Burglary!



On Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 10 AM, Officers were dispatched to a Burglary in the 400 block of 15th Place. Upon arrival Officers found that someone had gained entry to the residence and the vehicle parked outside.  The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and items used for tattooing.

Officers Arrest Multiple Individuals On Weapons Call


On July 26, 2012 at 4 PM, Officers were dispatched to 911 call in the 500 block of Iowa Street for multiple subjects fighting in the street with a knife being involved. As Officers arrived on scene they observed people fighting in the street. Officers began separating the individuals involved and placed multiple individuals in handcuffs. Officers determined a 28 year old Sturgeon Bay women had grabbed a 10 inch knife from the residence during the altercation and had threatened to stab another female involved in the fight.  Officers arrested three females who were involved in the fight. The males who were attempting to break the fight up were released from Police custody.

A 28 year old Sturgeon Bay women was arrested for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, Misdemeanor Reckless Use of a Weapon, and Felony Recklessly Endangering Safety. A 23 year old Sturgeon Bay women was arrested for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. A 30 year old Sturgeon Bay women was arrested for Misdemeanor second degree reckless endangering safety, Misdemeanor Reckless use of a weapon, and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct. All three were transported to and incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Officers Arrest Sturgeon Bay Man After Foot Chase


On July 23, 2012 at 12 PM, Officers assisting Probation and Parole made contact with a 30 year Sturgeon Bay man in the 400 block of 7th Place. As soon as Officers approached the man he took off running. After a brief foot chase Officers arrested the 30 year old for Misdemeanor Obstructing An Officer and a Probation Hold for violating his conditions of Probation. The 30 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Juveniles Arrested For OWI and Drug Possession


On July 22, 2012 at 11:30 PM, Officers who were on patrol observed a suspicious vehicle pass the Officers squad. As the vehicle passed the Officers squad the rear passenger lunged forward and appeared to be doing something near the seat area. The Officers observed the vehicle further and found that the vehicle had circled the Officer in attempt to loose the Officer who had been following the vehicle. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and upon making contact detected a strong odor of burnt Marijuana. Officers conducted field sobriety tests on the driver a juvenile from Sturgeon Bay, which the driver failed. Prior to conducting field sobriety tests all of the occupants stated they had just smoked Marijuana. Officers arrested the juvenile for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). Officers then escorted each of the 5 passengers out of the vehicle and conducted a search of the vehicle.

During the search of the vehicle, Officers recovered Drug Paraphernalia and Marijuana near the location of where the Officer observed the rear passenger lunging forward. The rear passenger a 18 year old Sturgeon Bay man was issued Ordinance citations for Obstructing an Officer, Underage Drinking, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. The juvenile driver who was arrested for OWI was eventually released to his parents.

Sturgeon Bay Women Arrested For Battery


On July 22, 2012 at 1 AM, Officers were flagged down by the bouncer at Vans Bar and were told of a altercation  which had just occurred. Officers were asked to walk through the bar to make sure things had calmed down, which Officers did. While inside the bar Officers were approached by the victim involved in the incident and Officers began interviewing him. The suspect a 33 year old Sturgeon Bay women was found near the Nautical Bar and arrested for Battery after she had threw a drink on the victim and slapped him in the face. The Sturgeon Bay women was cited with Misdemeanor Battery and released to her husband.

Green Bay Women Arrested For Obstructing & Outstanding Warrant!


On July 21, 2012 at 5:30 PM, Officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation and made contact with the driver who didn't have any form of identification on her. The female driver a 61 year old Green Bay women provided the Officer with her information and the Officer checked the information through Door County Dispatch. After repeated attempts the Officer on scene was able to find that the driver was giving false information to him so that she wouldn't be arrested for an outstanding warrant for violating her Probation.  Officers arrested the Green Bay women and incarcerated her at the Door County Jail on Misdemeanor charge of Obstructing An Officer and a warrant from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

Officers Investigate Assault Downtown!



On July 21, 2012 at 1:50 AM, Officers were dispatched to an assault that had taken place in the 100 block of N. 4th Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found a 48 Yr Old Sturgeon Bay man with face and leg injuries. The man was transported to the Door County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. The victim stated to Officers that he didn't know who had attacked him from behind. Officers are asking the public to contact the Police Department if they witnessed the altercation or have any information related to this incident.
