Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested & Woman Cited For Drugs
Little Chute Man Arrested For Eighth OWI
On March 20, 2014 at 2:35 PM, Officers were dispatched to the area of Third Avenue and Florida Street for an intoxicated driver. Officers stopped the vehicle in question and made contact with the driver a 57 year old Little Chute man. Officers determined the man had been drinking during lunch and had also mixed prescription medication. Officers arrested the man for Operating While Intoxicated 8th Offense and Felony Bail jumping as the man was to maintain absolute sobriety. Officers transported the 57 year old Little Chute man to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated.
Michigan Man Cited In Disturbance
On March 18, 2014 at 12:15 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department reference an incident that had just taken place at a business on the west side of Sturgeon Bay. Officers were told by the complainant that she was working the front desk of the business when a unknown male came into the business and began talking to her about random things. At one point the man began to make sexual comments to the complainant. Eventually the unknown man was told to leave the business and the complainant came to the Police Department to report the incident. After some investigating Officers identified the man as a 55 year old Michigan man. Officers cited the man for ordinance Disorderly Conduct.
Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested For OWI 2nd Offense
On March 17, 2014 at 12:52 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle on 12th Avenue for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver Officers found that the driver had been drinking. Officers administered field sobriety tests (FSTS) to the 34 year old Sturgeon Bay woman, which the woman failed. Officers provided a preliminary breath test to the woman, which indicated a .14 amount. As Officers were confirming the VIN on the vehicle, Officers observed open bottles of vodka inside the car. Officers arrested the 34 year old Sturgeon Bay woman for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 2nd Offense and incarcerated her at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested For OWI
On March 9, 2014 at 2:03 PM, Officers were dispatched to a reckless driving complaint on the west side of Sturgeon Bay. Officers stopped the vehicle and made contact with the 25 year old female driver. Officers noticed the driver was exhibiting signs of recent drug use specifically methamphetamine. Officers administered filed sobriety tests to the driver, which the driver failed. Officers arrested the 25 year old Sturgeon Bay woman for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) with a passenger under 16 years of age. The 25 year old Sturgeon Bay woman was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION OF REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER
Pursuant to
section 301.46(e) of the Wisconsin Statutes, the Chief of Police of the City of
Sturgeon Bay and the Sheriff of Door County are providing information to the
general public relating to persons who are convicted sex offenders. These people are registered with the
Wisconsin Department of Corrections Sex Offender Registry Program. The following person is a registered sex
offender who resides in the City of Sturgeon Bay.

have always lived in our community but it was not until Act 440 was enacted
which allows law enforcement to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to
threaten, intimidate or harass the registered sex offender will not be
tolerated.

Mastercard Phone Scam Alert
On March 6, 2014 at 6:30 PM, a Sturgeon Bay Police Officer received a suspicious phone call on his department cell phone. The phone call was a computer recorded message stating "Your Mastercard has been compromised, please press one for assistance". The Officer hung up and attempted to call the number back, but the Officer received only a busy signal each time they tried. The number came up "unavailable" on the caller identification.
Officers have received additional reports of similar phone calls being made to citizens in Sturgeon Bay. The Sturgeon Bay Police Department would like to remind everyone to never give out sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, or banking information over the phone unless you are positive you know who you are talking to is legitimate. Never hesitate to contact Police if you have questions or concerns over phone calls you are receiving.
2 Arrested In Auto Theft
On February 23, 2014 at 3 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay for an auto theft. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainant had awoken to find her front door ajar and her keys and vehicle missing. The investigation lead Officers to a different residence on the east side where Officers took a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay woman and a 21 year old Sturgeon Bay man into custody for the auto theft. The stolen vehicle, which was damaged was recovered nearby in a apple orchard. Both the 19 year old Sturgeon Bay woman and the 21 year old Sturgeon Bay man were incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Menominee Man Arrested For Eluding Officers
On March 3, 2014 at 3:27 AM, Officers on patrol observed a vehicle travelling over the center line on Jefferson Street. The Officer noticed that the vehicle appeared to be accelerating as it traveled east. Another Officer who was parked on Egg Harbor Road observed the same vehicle travelling faster than normal traffic on Egg Harbor Road.
Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver refused to stop. A short time later the suspect vehicle struck a snow bank and crashed into a nearby residence on Egg Harbor Road. Once stopped the vehicles operator exited the vehicle and took off on foot. After a brief foot chase Officers arrested the 26 year old Menominee man for the following charges:
- Knowingly flee an officer
- Obstructing an officer
- Operating while intoxicated
- Reckless driving
The Menominee man was also cited for numerous traffic violations as a result of the incident. No injuries occurred as a result of the crash. The 26 year old Menominee man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.
