Police Protective Fund Scam

On August 28, 2014 at 8 AM, Officers were dispatched to the police department reference fraud. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainant had received a phone call from 954-746-9900.  The caller claimed to be from Police Protective Fund and requested a donation.

The Police Protective Fund is a scam and the caller might use a legitimate phone number from outside the area to disguise the phone call. If you receive these types of phone calls do not give out any personal information and hang up the phone.

As always the Sturgeon Bay Police Department reminds everyone to never give out sensitive information such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, or banking information over the phone unless you are positive you know who you are talking to is legitimate. Never hesitate to contact Police if you have questions or concerns over phone calls you are receiving
