Press Release

On Wednesday, 6/8/2016, at approximately 7:00 PM, Sturgeon Bay Police Officers and Emergency First Responders were dispatched to Madelyn Marina on Memorial Drive for a man in a wheelchair that had fallen off the dock and into about 10 feet of water.  The man was throwing a ball to his dog when an on-looker saw him fall into the water.  The on-looker yelled for help and was heard by another man who quickly got the attention of two men who were at the marina on their docked boat.  These two men sprang into action and went into the water and recovered the man who was floating face down.  The men were thrown a floating device that they quickly placed under the unconscious man to help keep him afloat until help arrived.  The man was lifted from the water by officers and Emergency Responders and taken to the hospital.  According to family, the man is recovering and is expected to be released from the hospital.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department would like to thank the four gentleman who quickly responded.  Their unselfish actions save this man's life.
