Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested In Assault


On February 19, 2014 at 6:28 AM, Officers were dispatched to the Opera House for an Assault. Upon arrival Officers met with the complainant who told Officers he had been assaulted outside the bar. Officers found that a verbal confrontation took place inside the bar and it had spilled out onto the sidewalk where the complainant was assaulted by a 28 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Officers found the 28 year old Sturgeon Bay man and arrested him for Disorderly Conduct and Battery.

Marinette Man Arrested For Burglary


On February 21, 2014 at 2:40 AM, Officers were dispatched to the Best Western for a Burglary. Upon arrival Officers learned that a man had entered the complainants hotel room, while the complainant slept. While the man was in the room the complainant awoke to the sounds of the man rummaging through his items. The man left a short time after the complainant awoke. Officers arrived and began to search the hotel eventually finding a man fitting the description given by the complainant. Officers arrested a 25 year old Marinette man for Burglary and a Probation Hold. The Marinette man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Michigan Man Cited In Crash


On February 15, 2014 at 9:19 AM, Officers were dispatched to 3rd Avenue for a two vehicle accident. Upon arrival Officers found that the other vehicle involved had left the scene of the accident. Officers learned that the vehicle that had left had intentionally slammed on its brakes causing the vehicle behind it to strike it.

After the collision the vehicle that had slammed on its brakes took off at a high rate of speed. With assistance from witnesses to the crash Officers were able to locate the 39 year old Michigan Man. Officers cited the Michigan man with Hit and Run To An Attended Vehicle. No one was injured in the crash.

Milwaukee Man Arrested For Felony OWI


On February 15, 2014 at 8 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle on the west side of Sturgeon Bay for a traffic violation. Upon making contact with the driver Officers determined the driver a 46 year old Milwaukee Man had been drinking. Officers administered Field Sobriety Tests (FSTS), which the man failed. Officers provided a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT), which indicated a .22 amount. Officers arrested the man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 4th offense. Officers incarcerated the 46 year old Milwaukee man at the Door County Jail.

Casco Woman Arrested For OWI


On February 15, 2014 at 3:01 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on the east side of Sturgeon Bay. Officers found that the driver a 23 year old Casco woman had been drinking.  Officers administered Field Sobriety Tests (FSTS) to the driver, which she failed. Officers provided a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) to the driver, which indicated a .16 amount. Officers arrested the Casco woman for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and transported her to the Door County Jail.


Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For OWI & Obstructing Officers


On February 14, 2014 at 9:27 PM, Officers were dispatched to a vehicle stuck in a snow bank.  Upon arrival Officers observed a male near the vehicle. Officers asked the man to come back to the vehicle, but the man took off running. Officers caught up to the man and a brief struggle ensued. Officers were able to place handcuffs on the 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man and escorted him back to the vehicle. Officers learned from witnesses that the man in handcuffs was the driver and had admitted to crashing the vehicle. Officers administered Field Sobriety Tests (FSTS) to the Sturgeon Bay man, which the man failed. The 22 year old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested and incarcerated at the Door County Jail on Operating While Intoxicated (OWI), Resisting & Obstructing An Officer, and a Probation Hold.

Two Arrested In Walmart Thefts


On February 13, 2014 at 11:56 AM, Officers were dispatched to Walmart for two females stealing merchandise. Officers were also told that the same individuals had stolen merchandise this past week. Upon arrival Officers confronted the two females and arrested them. Officers found that both females had been stealing multiple items from Walmart since December 2013.

A 27 year old Sturgeon Bay woman was arrested for Felony Theft and a Probation Hold. A 26 year old Sturgeon Bay woman will be referred to the Door County District Attorneys Office for theft charges.

Two Cited For Disturbance In Walmart


On February 7, 2014 at 3:08 PM, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance inside Walmart. As Officers were en-route Door County Dispatch informed them that two men were physically fighting inside the store. Upon arrival Officers found both men inside the store and interviewed them. Based on the interviews, Officers learned that a verbal altercation between the two men started in the parking lot and then a physical altercation took place inside Walmart. Officers cited a 36 year old Algoma man and a 51 year old Sturgeon Bay man with ordinance Disorderly Conduct.

New Hampshire Man Arrested For OWI 3rd Offense


On February 5, 2014 at 12:52 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation on the west side of Sturgeon Bay. As Officers spoke with the 25 year old New Hampshire man Officers found that the man was slurring his words and Officers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from him. Field Sobriety Tests (FSTS) were administered to the driver, which he failed. Officers provided a Preliminary Breath Test (PBT) to the man, which indicated a .18 amount. Officers arrested the man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 3rd offense. Officers incarcerated the New Hampshire man at the Door County Jail.

Reminder To Always Lock Your Doors



Within the past few weeks Officers have been dispatched to a number of theft complaints involving vehicles being left unlocked and items being stolen from them. Officers remind citizens to lock their vehicles whenever they are not by them and to remove valuables from the vehicle when not in use.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Obstructing Officers


On February 2, 2014 at 3 AM, Officers made contact with a vehicle on Texas Street where the driver appeared to be flagging down the Officer. The Officer made contact with the man who immediately became uncooperative. Officers determined the 29 year old Sturgeon Bay man had been drinking. Officers also determined the Sturgeon Bay man was on probation. As Officers were interviewing the man he took off running towards the nearby residence. Officers pursued the man into the residence and apprehended the man without incident. Officers transported the Sturgeon Bay man to the Door County Jail where he was incarcerated for Obstructing An Officer and the Probation Violation.

Manitowoc Woman Arrested For Warrant & Drug Paraphernalia


On February 1, 2014 at 9:30 PM, Officers stopped a vehicle on the east side of Sturgeon Bay for a traffic offense. Officers found that the driver a 32 year old Manitowoc woman had a warrant for her arrest. During the course of the arrest Officers found drug paraphernalia in the vehicle. Officers arrested the 32 year old Manitowoc woman for possession of drug paraphernalia and the outstanding warrant.  The Manitowoc woman was transported to the Door County Jail where she was incarcerated.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Bail Jumping


On February 1, 2014 at 8:11 PM, Officers encountered a male who appeared to be having difficulty walking on Georgia Street. Officers made contact with the 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man and found that he was intoxicated.  Officers determined the Sturgeon Bay man wasn't supposed to be drinking due to absolute sobriety bond conditions. Officers arrested the 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man for bail jumping and transported him to the Door County Jail.

Michigan Street Bridge Closure


The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) northeast region office in Green Bay is announcing the Michigan Street Bridge in Sturgeon Bay, Door County will be closed Monday, February 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. The bridge will again close on Wednesday, February 19 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Motorists will need to find alternate routes during these closures. The closures will not affect marine traffic.

Repair crews will use the first closure to stage their equipment for repair of the southwest dolphin, one of four cylindrical dolphins or structures located in the river on either side of the bridge to protect it. The dolphin was struck by a freighter on Saturday, January 11 just after noon as the ship was passing under the bridge. The bridge itself was not damaged and is safe for use.

The bridge will be closed a second time so crews can remove their equipment following the completion of repairs.

Officers Investigate Attempted Break In



On January 24, 2014 at 3:58 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on 7th Avenue for an attempted break in. While Officers were en route they were notified that two men wearing bandannas were attempting to break into the residence through the side door. Officers were also told the men were armed with knives.

Upon arrival Officers found that the two men had fled from the residence prior to arrival. During the investigation Officers learned that an altercation had taken place outside the residence in the street between three males. One of the males was the brother of the complainant who confronted the two men. Officers searched the area for the two men, but were unable to find them. Officers are continuing to investigate the matter and don't believe the public is in any danger.

Peshtigo Man Arrested For Warrant & OWI


On January 29, 2014 at 7:00 AM, Officers stopped a vehicle on Egg Harbor Road.  Officers determined the driver a 33 year old Peshtigo man had been drinking and wasn't supposed to be driving. Officers administered field sobriety tests, which the man failed. Officers arrested the Peshtigo man for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 2nd Offense and for an outstanding warrant. The passenger a 32 year old Menominee man was also arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both men were incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Manitowoc Man Arrested For OWI 2nd Offense


On January 26, 2014 at 6:23 AM, Officers were dispatched to an east side business for a man who was passed out behind the wheel sleeping. Officers made contact with the man who believed he was in Manitowoc.  While talking with the man Officers determined the man was intoxicated. Officers administered field sobriety tests to the 40 year old Manitowoc man, which he failed. A preliminary breath test (PBT) was administered, which indicated a .11 amount. The 40 year old Manitowoc man was arrested for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) 2nd Offense and transported to the Door County Jail.

Illinois Man Arrested For Assault


On January 25, 2014 at 6:04 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Arbys parking lot for an assault.  Upon arrival Officers met with three males who state they were assaulted by an unknown man in the parking lot of Arbys. Officers were told that the man had ran off into the nearby woods after starting an altercation. Officers searched the area and found the 21 year old Illinois man inside a nearby gas station. Officers determined that the Illinois man had attempted to pull a juvenile from a truck and after failing to do so he punched the juvenile male in the face. The Illinois man assaulted another man prior to running into the nearby woods. Officers arrested the 21 year old Illinois Man for Physical abuse to a child, Disorderly conduct, and Battery. The Illinois man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.
