Door County Triathlon This Week



The Sturgeon Bay Police Department would like to remind everyone that the Door County Triathlon and Leukemia Bike Ride http://www.doorcountytriathlon.com/ will be held Sunday July 20, 2014 at 9 AM. Expect partial road closures and delays while travelling in the City of Sturgeon Bay. The event is scheduled to take place from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Intersections will be staffed by Police Officers, Community Service Officers, and or Volunteers. As always if you are out traveling through the affected areas please slow down for the bikers and runners.

Sturgeon Bay Police Department Is Now Hiring Police Officers





The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is now hiring Police Officers.  The Sturgeon Bay Police Department is hiring for one vacant spot and to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested For Assault


On June 30, 2014 at 11:41 AM, Officers were dispatched to an Assault at Motel 57. Upon arrival Officers found that a 40 year old Sturgeon Bay woman had assaulted another woman after she refused to give her cigarettes. Officers made contact with the 40 year old Sturgeon Bay woman and determined she was intoxicated and acting disorderly. Officers arrested the Sturgeon Bay woman for Battery and 2 counts of Disorderly Conduct. The 40 year old Sturgeon Bay woman was incarcerated at the Door County Jail.

Officers Investigate Burglary To Butchs Bar


On June 30, 2014 at 7:41 AM, Officers were dispatched to Butch's Bar for a Burglary. Upon arrival Officers found that someone had entered the building during the overnight hours and had taken an undisclosed amount of money from the gaming machines inside the bar. In the process of taking the money numerous items were damaged inside the bar. Investigators are currently reviewing evidence obtained at the crime scene.

Sergeant Promotion


On June 10, 2014, Sturgeon Bay Police Officer Markus Tassoul was promoted to Patrol Sergeant. Sergeant Tassoul assumed his new assignment on July 1, 2014 and will be assigned to the midnight shift. Sergeant Tassoul is a 2004 graduate of Southern Door High School and received his Bachelors of Letters and Science degree from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh in 2008. Sergeant Tassoul has been a Sturgeon Bay police officer since April 9, 2009.

Sergeant Tassoul comes from a family of Law Enforcement professionals; his father Randy is a former Sturgeon Bay Police Officer and retired Door County Sheriff’s Department Investigator. His brother Matthew is a deputy with the Door County Sheriff’s Department.

A total of six well qualified Sturgeon Bay police officers competed in the sergeant’s promotional process. The process consisted of a Letter of Intent, Resume, Written Test and concluded with an Oral Interview in front of the Sturgeon Bay Police & Fire Commission.
