Rental Scam Alert


On November 2, 2015, Officers were dispatched to the police department reference a rental scam posted on Craigslist . Upon arrival Officers were told of a residence in the City of Sturgeon Bay for rent. When the complainant contacted the number listed 903-741-4187 a Reverend Orlando Fernandez answered and explained to the complainant that he was renting the house for $700.00 a month, which could be paid via Western Union. The complainant asked Orlando why there was a for sale sign in the front yard, which Orlando told him that it should have been removed. 

The complainant communicated with the man through the following email perfecthome2013@outlook.com. The email address is linked online to many other rental scams all over the United States. The complainant contacted the police department and the real estate agency soon after where he was told that this was a scam.
