Results from SBPD's Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over crackdown

Sturgeon Bay Police issued 6 citations for OWI during the Drive Sober or Get Pulled over mobilization from August 19-September 5. Officers conducted 128 traffic stops, issuing 32 citations and 39 written warning.

In addition to the OWI arrests, officers issued citations for the following:
  • 7          speeding violations
  • 4          operating after revocation or suspension violations
  • 4          traffic sign or traffic light violations
  • 1          child restraint violation (child less than 4 yrs old)

Drunken driving is preventable and intensified enforcement can help deter people from driving if they’re impaired.  The Sturge
on Bay Police Department strongly encourages people who are out drinking to take a taxi home, call a sober friend, or use the Safe Ride Program from participating taverns.

Through September 5, Sturgeon Bay Police have made 57 OWI arrests in 2016, compared to 46 OWI arrests through the same time in 2015.
