OWI 4th Offense with 2 year old in Car

On November 6 at 5:35pm, officers received a report of an intoxicated driver who left a residence striking a dog, and the driver had her 2 year old child in the car.

Police located and stopped the vehicle, which was being driven by a 35 year old female from Sturgeon Bay.  The driver smelled of alcohol and had blood shot eyes.  Field sobriety tests indicated the driver was impaired, and the driver was arrested for OWI-4th offense with a child under 4 years old (increased penalties if convicted).

In addition, marijuana and a glass pipe were located in the vehicle.  Due to the drivers prior convictions for possession of marijuana, the driver was charged with felony possession of marijuana/THC and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The driver was taken to the Door County Jail to wait an appearance before a judge.

The child in the car was unharmed and released to the father.  The dog was taken to veterinarian as a precaution, but is expected to be fine.
