1st Safe Kids Day Event In The Books

Community Service Officer Day entertained the kids at the 1st Annual Safe Kids Door County Day event.  She said one of the highlights of the day was having a little boy come up to her and say someday he wants to be a Police Officer.  This was a great interactive and educational event for the kids.  There are other great photos on Facebook under Safe Kids Door County.

Escaped Vehicle

Have you ever had that moment when you walk out of the store and can't remember where you parked?  The owner of this vehicle walked out of Wal-Mart knowing where the vehicle was parked, but to the surprise of the owner the vehicle wasn't there.  While the owner was shopping, the vehicle rolled backwards striking the fence and thankfully did not end up in the pond or strike any other vehicles.  The vehicle was in park when this occurred and was not occupied.  That ended up being one expensive shopping trip.

Retirement

Squad 40, the last of the true police vehicles, the infamous Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor has retired for a new model.  Like Queen Victoria herself, she was a hard worker and looked good until the end!

Routine Traffic Stop Leads To Arrests

Four teenagers were driving home from a friend’s house when they were pulled over for a defective brake light.  When the officer made contact with the driver, he could smell intoxicants coming from the vehicle.  UV Vodka and marijuana were found in the vehicle.
Police arrested the 17 year old driver and he was cited for operating with controlled substance, underage person transporting intoxicants and underage possess/consume alcohol-2nd.
An 18-year-old male passenger was arrested for underage drinking-2nd and possession of THC with intent to deliver, which is a felony offense.
A third teenager was cited for underage consumption of alcohol.
The fourth teenager in the car was released to their parents.
Unfortunate for the teenagers being pulled over, cited and arrested, however they are safe.   It's a scary fact of teenagers drinking or using drugs and getting behind a wheel.  In this case, the defective break light may have saved their lives.

Update - Found Property

The owner claimed the pouch
A citizen turned in a pouch containing insulin which was found near the 600 block of W Juniper Street.   The owner will be asked to describe the contents prior to being released.

Sergeant Tassoul and Officer Mogen practiced their pig wrestling skills yesterday by rounding up this little pig that was reported on the loose.  The pig sustained an injury to the snout prior to contact with the officers.  I bet the Thresheree could use some more guys for their pig wrestling teams this month. The pig was given a warning for resisting arrest and returned safely to its owner.
