Pedestrian Accident Downtown Sends One To Hospital!

On Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 4:00 PM, Officers were dispatched to 3rd and Michigan Street for a car versus pedestrian accident. On arrival Officers found a male lying on the sidewalk with injuries to his head. After further investigation it was determined that the operator in the vehicle struck the juvenile on the skateboard who was traveling through the intersection at the time of the accident. The vehicle struck the juvenile causing the skateboarder to come off of the skateboard and to lose his helmet prior to striking the pavement. The injured juvenile was taken by Paramedics to Door County Medial Center for treatment of his injuries.  Officers continue to investigate the accident.

Officers would like to remind drivers to always look both ways when proceeding out from stop signs especially in high pedestrian areas.  Also it is against Sturgeon Bay City ordinance to travel anywhere downtown while using in line skates, skateboards, or bikes while on the sidewalk.
