Officers Investigate Check Fraud


On July 12, 2012 at 1 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Police Department reference check fraud. Upon arrival Officers met with the complainant who stated she had accepted a job working as a personal assistant via email from a Derek Early. The complainant provided Derek's email, which was dd_early@aol.com.  The job was to pay around $500.00.  On July 7, 2012 the complainant received a package with a check enclosed for $3850.90. The complainant cashed part of the check and spent around $200.00 before being notified by the bank of the check being fraudulent. As a result the complainant is out $200.00.
