Officers Investigate 3 Car Accident On Bridge

On May 30, 2013 at 2:26 PM, Officers were dispatched to the Oregon Bridge for a three car accident with possible injuries. Upon arrival Officers found that the traffic had started to back up on Oregon Street causing vehicles to come to a stop. Due to this a truck travelling too fast, failed to stop in time and struck the rear end of the first vehicle causing damage to both vehicles. As a result of that accident a third vehicle following to close slammed into the truck causing damage to both the rear end of the truck and the front of the third vehicle. The third vehicle involved was towed from the scene. All three drivers were checked for injuries by Door County Paramedics and released.

The drivers of the second and third vehicle involved in the accident were cited for inattentive driving and following to closely. Officers remind citizens of frequent backups while on the Bridge Detour route. Furthermore Officers remind citizens to slow down as these accidents could have been prevented if the drivers had been doing so.
