Kewaunee Man Arrested For Theft and Felony Bailjumping
Earlier this week on November 22, 2011 at 1PM, Officers were dispatched to Door County Waste and Recycling. Upon arrival the complainant stated that a male had dropped off numerous pieces of electronics for disposal. The male didn't have enough money to pay for disposal and said he would be back with the money. A week had elapsed and the male had not come back to pay for the electronic disposal. Officers arrested a 35 year old male from Kewaunee for Theft and Felony Bailjumping.
Hit and Run Driver Who Fled The Scene of Accident Is Arrested In Forestville
Officers interviewed the complainant who had been hit by the vehicle and found that the complainant had remembered the vehicles WI Registration plate. Based on the information gathered Officers asked the Door County Sheriffs Department to be on the look out for the vehicle. Deputies ended up finding the vehicle in Forestville. When deputies went to make contact with the driver the passenger immediately fled from the vehicle into the nearby woods. The driver a 20 year old female from Forestville was arrested by Sturgeon Bay Officers for Violation of Absolute Sobriety, Underage Alcohol Consumption, Minor Transport of Alcohol and Hit and Run of an Attended Vehicle. The 20 year old female was transported to the Door County Jail where she was released to a responsible adult. The passenger was later identified and could face charges for fleeing from Officers.
Officers Respond To Minor Call Related To Black Friday Shoppers!
The Sturgeon Bay Police Department responded to one call related to Black Friday shopping. The complaint was a parking complaint, which occurred at Target. The complaint involved a vehicle parked illegally in a handicap parking spot. The owner of the vehicle was cited by Officers. Throughout much of the day Patrol Officers did provide extra patrol through the parking lots of Target and Walmart. Community Service Officers (CSO's) assisted staff at Target with providing extra security inside the building during peak hours. From a Law Enforcement perspective things seemed to run pretty smoothly at all of the retailers in Sturgeon Bay who were open for Black Friday shopping.

Officers Cite One For Disorderly Conduct After Neighbor Dispute!
On November 21, 2011 at 6 PM, Officers responded to a disturbance between two neighbors in the 1600 block of Delaware Street. Upon arrival Officers made contact with the complainant who described his reasons for calling Officers. As Officers were talking with the complainant the suspect opened her door and began yelling and screaming profanities at the complainant and Officers. After investigating the incident Officers cited the neighbor a 55 year old Sturgeon Bay women for Disorderly Conduct.
YMCA Phone Scam Alert
On November 21, 2011 at 5 PM, Officers were dispatched to the YMCA for a fraud complaint. Upon arrival the complainant stated to Officers that the YMCA had received a complaint from a member who had received a phone call from someone soliciting donations on behalf of the YMCA. The YMCA member who received the phone call didn't provide a donation, but instead contacted the YMCA because they were concerned about the legitimacy of the call. The YMCA advised responding Officers that the YMCA is not soliciting for donations at this time. Officers encourage the public to contact the Police Department at 920-746-2450 if they receive similar calls.
Female Arrested For Causing Disturbance Downtown
On November 20, 2011 at 9 PM, Officers were exiting the Police Department when they overheard a female yelling numerous profanities outside an apartment complex atop Door County Vacuum. Officers investigated the yelling and found a 48 year old female yelling profanities at the top apartment. After an investigation Officers found that the female was upset at her boyfriend who was upstairs in the apartment. During the investigation the female became uncooperative with Officers and was arrested for Disorderly Conduct. The 48 year old Sturgeon Bay women was transported to the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Causing Multiple Disturbances
On November 19, 2011 at 1835 Hrs, Officers were dispatched to Butches Bar for a tenant who was living above the bar who was intoxicated and fighting with other tenants. Upon arrival Officers found the suspect lying on the floor after he had assaulted another tenant. Officers determined the other tenants were acting in self defense and were not charged with any crimes. The suspect a 37 year old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and transported to the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Foot Chase With Officers
On November 15, 2011 at 4:47 PM, Officers were dispatched to a Intoxicated male who had possible drove to the Phil Mart Gas Station on Egg Harbor Road. Upon arrival Officers were not able to find the male, but continued to check the nearby areas for him to check on his welfare. Officers a few minutes later found the suspects vehicle in the parcel pickup of Econo Foods. As Officers approached the vehicle a male bolted from the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers pursued the 23 year old male for about 2 blocks and were able to arrest him. It was later determined the male had stolen a bottle of alcohol from Econo Foods prior to Officers arrival. The 23 year old male was issued Misdemeanor Citations for Obstructing and Retail Theft.
Officers Respond To BB Gun Incident Causing Damage To Home & Vehicle
On November 14, 2011 at 4 PM, Officers were dispatched to the 900 Block of North Duluth Avenue for a Criminal Damage To Property complaint. Upon arrival Officers observed damage to the exterior of the home and vehicles consistent with multiple BB gun rounds being shot at it. Officers estimated 17 rounds were shot at the home and vehicle causing extensive damage. Officers were able to recover some of the rounds and are processing them for evidence.

Officers Make Arrest In Theft of Purse From Vehicle
On Saturday November 12, 2011 at 9 AM, Officers were dispatched to a theft of a purse at 50 South Madison Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainants vehicle was left unlocked and her purse was missing. Officers searched the area and weren't able to find the purse. Officers used a Target gift card, which was stolen to later place a 29 year old Sturgeon Bay man at the scene of the crime. The 29 year old was also observed in the area as Officers arrived on scene. The 29 year old was arrested and transported to the Door County Jail where he was booked into the jail on the following charges Misdemeanor Theft, Obstructing An Officer, and a Probation Hold.
Officers Investigate Damage Done To Thunderhill Raceway
On Saturday November 12, 2011 at 5 AM, Officers were dispatched to a Criminal Damage To Property complaint at Thunderhill Raceway. Upon arrival Officers met with the complainant who stated many of the vehicles, which were parked by the racetrack sustained broken windshields and slashed tires. The owner estimates the damage to be in the thousands of dollars. Officers are currently investigating leads and are asking the public for any information regarding this incident.

Phone Scam Alert!
This past Friday around 11 AM, Officers were dispatched to a Suspicious complaint at a residence in the 1500 block of Louisiana Place. Upon arrival Officers spoke with the complainant who stated she had received a phone call from 876-843-4580, the caller had a heavy accent and was male. The caller stated she had won a prize and in order for her to claim the prize she needed to send $400.00 to the following address.

Possible Vehicle Warranty Mail Scam
On November 8, 2011 at 10 AM, Officers were informed of a potential fraud complaint by a resident who had contacted the Police Department. The complainant stated she had received a suspicious letter (Example Shown Above) in the mail claiming her vehicles auto warranty was expiring soon and she had 72 hours to respond to the letter. Officers investigated the letter and determined it to be possible a scam. Officers are recommending citizens to shred the letters if they receive them. Officers Dispatched To Accident With Injuries
On Thursday November 3, 2011 at 8 PM, Officers were dispatched to a two vehicle accident with injuries on Maple Street at Madison Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found two vehicles involved in the crash. One of the drivers was hurt in the crash and was transported to Door County Medical Center by ambulance. After interviewing both drivers it was found that one of the drivers had rear ended the other driver as she waited to turn onto Madison Avenue. The driver who caused the accident was cited for inattentive driving.
Officers Respond To Restaurant Downtown For Disturbance
On Thursday November 3, 2011 at 10 AM, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance involving two males in the 100 block of North Third Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found that a disturbance had occurred inside one of the local restaurants where a male had accused another male of being a snitch. After accusing the male of this the accuser then stuck his finger in the other males eye. After interviewing witnesses to the altercation Officers cited both males for Disorderly Conduct.
