3 Charged With Citgo Gas Station Armed Robbery

Armed Robbery-Party To A Crime
Obstructing An Officer-Repeat Offender

On August 20, 2013 at 2:00 AM, Officers were dispatched to an Armed Robbery at the Citgo Gas Station on Michigan Street. Upon arrival Officers found that a white male wearing a paint ball mask walked into the gas station and threatened the clerk with a large black knife. The male made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was injured in the robbery.

From 2 AM to 8 PM, Officers from the Sturgeon Bay Police Department fielded tips and interviewed citizens who were out walking around during the Robbery. During the course of interviews a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man named Dylan Austad was identified as the person who committed the Robbery. While investigating the Robbery incident, Officers found that Dylan Austad was also wanted in questioning by the Door County Sheriff’s Department for additional Burglaries that occurred in Door County.

Additionally Officers arrested two other Sturgeon Bay men who assisted in the Robbery. Those two males were identified in the area by Officers responding to the Robbery. One of those males is a juvenile and the other male is a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man identified as Joshua Robel. The two adult males are incarcerated in the Door County Jail.

The Sturgeon Bay Police Department would like to thank everyone who assisted with this matter especially the individuals that provided information. It shows that crime like this will not be tolerated by the citizens of Sturgeon Bay.

Arrest Made In Armed Robbery


On Tuesday afternoon around 3 PM, the Sturgeon Bay Police Department, with the assistance from investigators from the Door County Sheriff’s Department, arrested a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man in connection with the early Tuesday morning Armed Robbery to the Michigan Street Citgo convenient store. Officers took the man into custody outside an east side residence. Articles of clothing the suspect wore, the knife he used and cash were recovered and were found in the apartment and are believed to be connected to this incident.  Evidence from other crimes was also recovered. The 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man is incarcerated at the Door County Jail. 

Officers Investigate Armed Robbery, Reward Offered




On August 20, 2013 at 2:00 AM, Officers were dispatched to an Armed Robbery at the Citgo Gas Station on Michigan Street. Sturgeon Bay Woman Arrested For Disorderly Conduct


On August 6, 2013 at 1:56 PM, Officers were dispatched to Sawyer Elementary School for a disturbance.  Officers were informed by Community Service Officers who were already on scene investigating a related animal problem that a 57 year old Sturgeon Bay women had created a disturbance a few minutes ago.

Upon arrival Officers found that a 57 year old Sturgeon Bay women was intoxicated and had confronted teachers who were assisting children building a fort in the nearby woods. The confrontation became so tense teachers stated they had stand in between the children and the Sturgeon Bay woman as she verbally berated them. Officers later learned the same Sturgeon Bay woman had allowed her dog to be released onto the playground while children were playing on it. During this incident and past incidents no children were harmed or injured.

Officers have referred the 57 year old Sturgeon Bay woman for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct and Misdemeanor Bail-jumping to the Door County District Attorneys Office.  Ordinance citations of Animal Running at Large 1st Offense and Animal License Required 1st Offense have been issued to the Sturgeon Bay woman.



Sturgeon Bay Man Cited For Drugs


On August 6, 2013 at 11:26 AM, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 18th Avenue to assist Probation and Parole on a home visit. Upon arrival Officers detected a strong odor of burnt Marijuana coming from the apartment. As Officers were making contact with the residents, Officers observed drug paraphernalia. Officers and Probation Agents talked with the occupants and determined the drugs and paraphernalia was a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay mans. The 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man was cited for drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Fleeing From Officers


On August 5, 2013 at 9:05 AM, Officers received information on the whereabouts for a 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man who was wanted by Probation and Parole. Officers went to the location on 12th Avenue and on arrival observed the man. As soon as Officers arrived the Sturgeon Bay man fled from Officers running towards nearby trees and brush. Officers caught up to the man and arrested him for the warrant and for fleeing from Officers. Officers incarcerated the 45 year old Sturgeon Bay man on the outstanding warrant and a misdemeanor charge of resisting and obstructing Officers.

Officers Investigate Burglary


On August 4, 2013 at 12:23 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on Hudson Avenue for a Burglary. Upon arrival Officers found the rear door to the residence off of its hinges. Officers made contact with a resident of the house who told Officers that when he returned home from work in the morning he found the residence burglarized. Numerous electronics were stolen from the residence.

Reckless Driver Arrested After Incident In Sunset Park


On August 2, 2013 at 6:25 PM, Officers were dispatched to Sunset Park for a reckless driver who had struck a flock of geese injuring two of them. Due to the incident the driver and the passengers exited the vehicle and confronted the complainant and threatened to assault the complainant.

Upon arrival Officers found the suspect vehicle gone, but did obtain the name of the driver and the vehicles plate information. Officers began looking for the vehicle and found it in the 700 block of 7th Avenue.  Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and identified the driver as a 18 year old Sturgeon Bay man.

While talking with the driver Officers found that the driver had consumed alcohol. Officers also determined that the driver had intentionally lied to Officers. Officers arrested the 18 year old driver and cited the 21 year old passenger.  During the course of the investigation, Officers did recover a Air Soft pistol from the vehicle, which had been made to resemble a real handgun.

The driver an 18 year old Sturgeon Bay man was arrested for violation of absolute sobriety law.  The driver was also cited for the following offenses:

  • Underage drinking
  • Transport of intoxicants
  • Disorderly Conduct 
  • Resisting/Obstructing An Officer
  • Disorderly Conduct with a Motor Vehicle

The 18 year old Sturgeon Bay man was booked into the Door County Jail.

The passenger a 21 year old Sturgeon Bay man was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct and released from Police custody.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Bar Fight


On August 1, 2013 at 2:11 AM, Officers were dispatched to the alley behind Vans Bar for a fight involving 7 to 10 people. Upon arrival Officers found that individuals were still yelling at one another, but weren't fighting. Officers began to interview the individuals involved after placing a 24 year old Forestville man in handcuffs after refusing to listen to Officers commands. Officers determined the Forestville man in handcuffs had been assaulted by a 29 year old Sturgeon Bay man. Officers arrested the 29 year old Sturgeon Bay man for Disorderly Conduct and Battery and transported him to the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Assaulted At Residence


On July 30, 2013 at 12:55 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on 4th Avenue for an Assault. Upon arrival Officers found that a male had been assaulted while he slept in bed. The suspect a 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man had fled the residence prior to Officers arrival. The male who was assaulted received medical attention at the Door County Medical Center for his injuries. Officers have referred charges to the Door County District Attorneys Office for Disorderly Conduct and Battery charges.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Drugs


On July 30, 2013 at 2:43 AM, Officers on patrol observed a male walking near Egg Harbor Road who Officers knew had an outstanding warrant. Officers made contact with the 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man and arrested the man for the warrant. Upon making the arrest Officers found that the Sturgeon Bay man was in Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Narcotics. Officers transported the 19 year old Sturgeon Bay man to the Door County Jail.

Officers Investigate Theft From Vehicle


On July 29, 2013 at 7:53 AM, Officers were dispatched to the 10 block of Pine Street for a vehicle break-in. Upon arrival Officers found a vehicle at a nearby residence with its driver side window smashed. Officers determined the owners pink purse, Garmin GPS, and other items were stolen from the vehicle. Bomb Squad Removes Blasting Caps From Residence


On July 28, 2013 at 3:30 PM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay for blasting caps and electronic detonators, which were found in the garage.  The blasting caps and electronic detonators were determined to be quite old and were probably kept by the previous owner.  The Brown County Sheriffs Department Bomb Squad responded to the residence to remove the blasting caps. The items were removed by the Bomb Squad without incident.

Sturgeon Bay Man Injured After Disturbance


On July 28, 2013 at 2:46 AM, Officers were dispatched to a residence on Rhode Island Street for a fight. Upon arrival Officers met with a 28 year old Sturgeon Bay man who was injured from the fight. The 28 year old told Officers that he had went to a neighbors for a birthday party. At some point the neighbors a 18 year old and 24 year old confronted the 28 year old about an altercation involving a female earlier this year.

Soon after the confrontation turned physical between the men and the two neighbors punched the 28 year old in the face multiple times causing injuries.  After speaking with the 28 year old Sturgeon Bay man he was transported to the Door County Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Officers have forwarded the incident to the Door County District Attorneys Office for their review of charges.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Fire


On July 27, 2013 at 5:11 PM, Officers were dispatched to an apartment complex on 12th Avenue for smoke in the hallway. Upon arrival Officers found smoke coming from one of the apartments. Officers found that a 55 year old Sturgeon Bay man who was intoxicated had fallen asleep on the couch. Sturgeon Bay Fire Department found where the smoke was coming from inside the apartment and took care of it.  Officers arrested the 55 year old man for an outstanding warrant and being in violation of his Probation. The 55 year old Sturgeon Bay man was incarcerated at the Door County Jail on the Warrant and Probation Hold.

Sturgeon Bay Woman Cited For DC



On July 25, 2013 at 3:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to physical confrontation at an apartment complex on 7th Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found that the complainant had been the one who had caused the disturbance. No one was injured as a result of the disturbance. The Sturgeon Bay woman was cited for Disorderly Conduct and released.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested For Bailjumping


On July 23, 2013 at 8:51 PM, Officers were dispatched to a fight at an apartment complex on 7th Avenue. Upon arrival Officers found that a 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man had went over to his neighbors apartment and began to cause a disturbance. During the incident the 49 year old began to yell and swear at his neighbor attempting to instigate a physical confrontation. The neighbor returned to his apartment and called 911. On arrival Officers found that the 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man was on bond for a similar offense and had a absolute sobriety clause. Officers arrested the 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man who was intoxicated and incarcerated the 49 year old Sturgeon Bay man on Misdemeanor Bail jumping at the Door County Jail.

Sturgeon Bay Man Arrested After Disturbance


On July 23, 2013 at 8:53 AM, Officers were dispatched to a series of complaints reference an intoxicated person panhandling downtown.  The same man had caused similar problems the previous night. At 8:53 AM, Officers on patrol observed the man causing a disturbance downtown. During this incident the man had confronted numerous individuals about money. As the Sturgeon Bay man began to follow this group, he began to interact with a citizen who refused to speak with him. As a result the Sturgeon Bay man began to yell profanities at the citizen. Officers arrested the 29 year old Sturgeon Bay man for Disorderly Conduct and transported him to the Door County Jail.
