Alcohol & Drugs ... A Common Theme

UNDERAGE DRINKING: On February 23 at 7:53pm, police were dispatched to a noise complaint at the Sunset View Apartments involving teenagers.  Upon making contact with the occupants, it was determined a 15 year old juvenile had been consuming alcohol.  The juvenile was issued a citation and taken home to their parents.  The apartment renter, a 34 year old female, was issued a citation for allowing the underage consumption.

MARIJUANA: On February 24 at 3:30pm, a city officer was assisting a deputy in looking for a suspect at the Nightengale Motel.  Upon locating the suspect, a strong odor of marijuana was coming from the room he was renting, with a small amount located in the room.  With no prior marijuana arrest, the 18 year old male from Sister Bay was issued an ordinance citation for possession of marijuana.  The deputy arrested the suspect on an unrelated matter.

OWI & DRUGS: On February 24 at 10:39pm, police were dispatched to an accident in the 300 block of Jefferson St with a report the intoxicated driver was attempting to leave.  Police located the driver, a 30 year old male from Sturgeon Bay, where field sobriety tests indicated impairment and the driver was arrested for OWI-4th Offense, a felony.  Police found drug paraphernalia and a joint on the driver, as well as some marijuana in the vehicle.  In addition to the OWI charge, the suspect was charged with felony possession of marijuana (prior convictions) and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.  Traffic citations for failure to maintain control of his vehicle and operating without a driver's license was issued as well.  The driver was cooperative, but his impairment level was to the point he had to ask the officer if he was back in Door County.

DISTURBANCE: On February 24 at 11:23pm, police were called to a residence in the 400 block of N 6th Ave for disorderly behavior.  Police located an intoxicated male outside.  An investigation reveled the male had been asked to leave the house and when occupants tried to get the male to leave, he struck a 15 year old resident in the head.  The juvenile was not injured.  Police found the male, a 35 year old resident of Luxemburg, was out on bail with a condition to not consume alcohol.  The male was taken to jail and charged with disorderly conduct and bail jumping.

MARIJUANA: On February 26 at 12:20am, police located a male walking on Hwy 42/57 near Neenah Ave wearing only a t-shirt, pajama pants and boots.  Due to the colder weather, police found this odd and contacted the male, who claimed he was walking back to Motel 57 from Wal-Mart.  Though the males story was not believable, police were nice and gave the male a ride to the motel.  At 1:19am, police were notified of a vehicle in the ditch farther east of the location where the officer first located the male.  The officer returned to Motel 57, where another vehicle was pulling into the motel at the same time, and the officer observed the passenger was the same male from earlier.  An investigation determined the male, a 22 year old male from Janesville, was the driver of the vehicle in the ditch.  In addition, a small amount of marijuana and a pipe were located in the vehicle.  The male from Janesville was issued traffic citations for operating with a suspended license and failure to maintain control of his vehicle, and issued ordinance citations for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.  The vehicle that had pulled into the motel parking lot was being driven by a 31 year old male from Beloit who was found not to have a valid driver's license, and he was issued a citation for that offense.
