Reckless Driving Complaint Leads to Afternoon Drunk Driver

On February 1 at 4:50pm, police were dispatched to the city limits on the north end of Highway 42/57 for a reckless driver.  Police located the driver, who was swerving in their lane of traffic and crossing the median.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver, a 59 year old male from DePere, smelled of alcohol.  The driver had come from Sister Bay and only had a "few" beers.  Field sobriety tests showed signs of impairment and the driver was arrested for 1st offense OWI.

This is a reminder to the public that drunk drivers are on our roads at all times of the day.  If you witness reckless driving, please contact the police who can investigate the situation.  Help keep our roads safe!
