Drugged Driving is the Same as Drunk Driving

On February 6 at 12:02pm, police received a complaint of a vehicle that did not stop for a stop sign at Duluth Ave and Maple St.  Police located and stopped the vehicle.  The driver, a 24 year old male from Sturgeon Bay, claimed he stopped for the sign, but he may not have come to a complete stop.

During the contact, police detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.  The driver admitted he had been smoking marijuana earlier while driving.  Police located marijuana in the vehicle.

The driver was arrested for OWI (operating with a controlled substance) - 3rd offense and taken to jail.  In addition, the driver was out on felony bond conditions for drug related charges.  Additional charges of felony Possession of Marijuana and felony Bail Jumping were added.
