Juvenile Arrested After Threatening Officer With Knife

On April 7, 2013 at 1:54 PM, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a residence on the east side of Sturgeon Bay. As Officers were en-route dispatch advised Officers that a juvenile male was inside the residence armed with a knife and was threatening his parents.

Upon arrival Officers found that the male was attempting to leave out a rear door in the garage. Officers who were in the back of the residence were just about to open the rear door when they encountered the male in the doorway. The juvenile male raised his arm with the knife at the Officer. Confronted with the deadly force situation the Officer drew his service weapon and ordered the male to drop the knife, which the juvenile male did. Officers arrested the juvenile for Recklessly Endangering Safety and Disorderly Conduct. The juvenile was incarcerated at Brown County Juvenile Detention Center.

Chief Porter states, the Officer who encountered the armed male exercised a tremendous amount of restraint especially when the juvenile was only a few feet away and the situation was clearly a deadly force situation. Thankfully this situation ended without anyone seriously getting hurt.
