Boater Safety Course


A Boater Safety Course is being offered by the Sturgeon Bay Police Department at the Sturgeon Bay City Hall. The class dates and times are: April 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th from 4:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

Students that are interested in attending the course are required to obtain a Wisconsin DNR Customer ID Number and provide that customer ID number and other personal information to the course instructor at the time of registration. You can obtain a DNR Customer ID Number by calling the DNR Info between 7 AM -10 PM at 1-888-936-7463.

Pre-registration is required by going to the Wisconsin DNR Web site (wi.dnr.gov) and click on EDUCATION tab. Under EDUCATION click on SAFETY COURSES, then click on SEARCH FOR AND ENROLL IN UPCOMING CLASSES. Type in BOAT for class type and Door for County, click on ENROLL and complete the registration process. If you have difficulty with the registration process please contact lead instructor Clint Henry at 920 746-2456. Seats are limited and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.

There are no minimum age limits to attend any Wisconsin DNR Safety Courses. However the parent or guardian of the student should be cognizant of course content, materials and objectives. Parents and guardians are welcome to attend the course with their student.

The Course Fee is $10.00 per student.

Course Objectives

To reduce the potential for accidents, injuries and fatalities; to reduce the potential for conflict between participants, landowners, and other resource users; and to promote safe, responsible and ethical use of the environment and our resources.

STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS MUST CONTACT THE INSTRUCTOR AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE OF THE COURSE TO REQUEST SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS.
