Burn Ban Updated




Emergency Management and Emergency Services of Door County/Door CountyFire Chiefs lift Temporary Ban on camp fires in Door County. Sturgeon Bay, WI.

July 25, 2012, Due to the recent and predicted rain fall, Door County Emergency Management with recommendations by the Door County Fire Chiefs are permitting the use of campfires, including those not at developed campgrounds.

The following open burning is still not being permitted: 
 
· Burning of refuse;
· Debris piles, burn barrels, prescribed or broadcast burns, and agricultural burning; and
· Fireworks.

No burning permits will be issued for the above listed burns. Any burning permits that have been issued (including those for fireworks) are still suspended and no longer valid.

The open burning ban with the above listed will remain in effect until further notice. Door County Emergency Management and Emergency Services / Door County Fire Chiefs will not lift the open burning ban until conditions improve.

Please exercise caution and diligence when having a campfire.

We urge all citizens to follow this ban, in order to protect life, property, and natural resources within Door County.
