Sturgeon Bay Man Injured After Crashing Near Bayview Bridge

On July 5, 2012 at 1:43 AM, Officers were dispatched to a PI Accident on the highway near the Bayview Bridge. The bridge tender and a nearby homeowner had contacted 911 stating they had heard a loud bang coming from the direction of the Bayview Bridge. Officers en route were informed by the bridge tender of a better location and upon arrival observed a vehicle, which had rolled over in the ditch. Officers searched the area around the vehicle because the driver wasn't located inside of it. Upon further investigation Officers found a 27 year old Sturgeon Bay man lying injured in the grass near the vehicle.  Officers determined the male was driving north on the highway and had crossed both lanes of traffic ending up going off into the ditch where the vehicle rolled ejecting the 27 year old into the grass. Officers cited the driver for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) and issued him numerous other traffic citations. The 27 year old Sturgeon Bay man was transported to Door County Medical Center where he received treatment for his injuries.
