Phone Scam Reported

On September 22, 2012 at 6:30 PM, Officers were dispatched to 500 block of Hudson Avenue for a Phone scam.  On arrival Officers met with the complainant who explained she had received a telephone call from a male using an unknown phone number stating she had just won $800,000.00 dollars in some sweepstakes. The male went on to state that the check would be dropped off next week and in the meantime the complainant was supposed to send a personal check to the male for pending handling fees that would be her responsibility or receiving the winnings. The complainant finding the call suspicious hung up and contacted Police.

As always if it sounds too good to be true or if the situation sounds too far fetched...it probably is! Please contact the Police Department if you ever have any questions reference suspicious calls, mail, or any other incidents at 920-746-2450.
